I’ve never exported before. How do I get started?
Start by gathering basic shipment information: what you’re shipping (commodity), how much (weight and dimensions), where it’s coming from (origin), and where it’s going (destination). Then, contact us with these details — we’ll guide you through the rest, including the best shipping mode (sea vs. air), documentation requirements, and customs clearance. We specifically work with first-time exporters to simplify the process by handling all the complex steps
Why do freight forwarding costs vary so much between providers?
Freight rates depend on multiple factors: shipping mode (air vs. sea), seasonality, fuel prices, container availability, and the specific services included (e.g., customs clearance, insurance, door-to-door delivery). The cheapest quote is not always the best choice — unusually low rates may come with hidden fees, poor reliability, or substandard service, which can cost you more in delays or lost goods. We offer transparent, itemized quotes so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Do I need an import/export license to ship internationally?
Exporting from Indonesia generally does not require a specific “export license” for most general goods — a valid Business Identification Number (NIB) issued through the OSS system is sufficient to serve as your Exporter Identity Number (API). However, certain restricted or controlled goods (e.g., forestry products, minerals) may require additional approvals. Import requirements vary by destination country — for example, importing into the USA does not require a general import license, but specific goods may have special requirements. We’ll help you check what applies to your specific shipment.
Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?
A trustworthy forwarder will disclose all potential costs upfront. Ask specifically about these possible charges: customs inspection fees, terminal handling charges (THC), documentation fees, fuel surcharges (BAF), peak season surcharges (PSS), and demurrage/detention fees if containers are not returned on time. Our policy is to provide a detailed, all-inclusive quote so you know your total costs before you commit.
What happens if my shipment is delayed or damaged?
First, we will notify you proactively — before you have to ask. Then we investigate the cause, work with the carrier to resolve the issue, and provide you with a recovery plan. For damage claims, we will guide you through the claim process with the carrier or insurance provider. We have a documented claim handling procedure to ensure fair and timely resolution (as outlined in our operational SOP). Go to our Logistics page to explore the full range of services we offer.
Should I get cargo insurance?
Yes — highly recommended. Carrier liability is limited (often to only 0.50‑2.00 per kg for sea freight, far below the actual value of many goods). Cargo insurance covers your goods against loss or damage during transit from warehouse to warehouse. We strongly advise all clients to purchase all‑risk cargo insurance, especially for high‑value or sensitive shipments. We can arrange competitive insurance coverage for you — just ask.
